Yes. The first novel I read was Chandrakanta written by Devakinandan Khatri.

I cant remember who it is that wrote 'robinson crusoe', but when i was in grade 3 and still struggling with the english language, being a shona, i alternated between stammering over the story and having it read to me by my father. That book caused me to appreciate the magic of literature to which i'm a loyal slave up to now
