Our Business Consultant will provide financial and strategic advice to small and middle-sized companies. At minimum, a bachelor's degree is generally required for this job, but the Consultant must also have an excellent business sense and keen communication skills.
You are called upon to support both new and established businesses to make profits. You will analyze a company's business plan and financial statements to properly advise it about investments, marketing and potential funding opportunities. Though Technology is now able to produce financial reports without the help of a business consultant, but it is the job of the business consultant to analyze those reports.
Typical tasks involve:
carrying out research and data collection to understand the organisation;
conducting analysis; and examining feasibility of opportunities 
interviewing client's employees, management team and other stakeholders;
running focus groups and facilitating workshops;
preparing business proposals/presentations
supporting individuals (entrepreneurs) with information, advice and guidance for the purpose of assisting clients set up and maintain their own sustainable SME business; 
using your own experience of owning or running an SME to help clients set-up and improve their own business and improve its performance; 
drawing up and agreeing with the clients’ appropriate strategies, and action plans;
Helping the client think through their business proposition, strategies, finance and plans.
Providing face to face and online mentoring 
Helping clients with their business plans. 
In addition to the above:
Helping the clients’ secure suitable loans or grants.
Ensuring the sustainability of the clients assigned in their own portfolio. 
Meeting targets set in the LAMID Business Group’s delivery plan, re- SMEs
Offering Business Support, across all contracts and new business development. 
To achieve revenue and outcome targets that contribute to the groups’ budgets across the unit
To assess clients’ plans for their start up business as self-employed or small business
Where the client has a potentially viable concept, pre-qualifying, and enrolling the client on LAMID’s BIZ (Incubator), supporting their action plan further using our Business plan
Template and finding a suitable volunteer mentor. 
Attach the client to their mentor, and track the client’s progression in 
Support the client in the legal set up of their business and provide effective 
Information, advice and guidance to ensure they start trading. 
Develop a portfolio of “face to face” volunteer mentors to support clients through existing links, networking events and seminars, and actively promote the LAMID Mentor Hive of on-line mentors. 
Builds and maintains relationships with institutional partners 
Maintains through an account management approach, the relationship with the 
client by providing them with a full range of business information, diagnosing, 
milestones/metrics and interpreting their needs and providing advisory and services, 
Drawing on mentors but also external business support agencies, bodies and Partners to produce with the client an agreed action plan (to including metrics) 
Ensure throughout the process, the client’s full understanding and commitment to the analysis, diagnoses, priorities and options.  
Record the client’s journey via the Administration team and LAMID’s CRM. 
At regular intervals check that the clients and mentors are satisfied with 
progress, the quality of LAMID’s  services, record feedback and other relevant information gathered on databases. 
Introduce to clients any other service which may become relevant to the client during the duration of the consultancy
Contribute to the development of LAMID’s products and services through 
feedback from clients and analysis of the effectiveness and relevance of 
Current services in meeting those needs. 
Develop good internal working relationships within the team by exchanging information, ‘best practice’ ideas and experiences. Work closely with other teams to ensure effective co-ordination and collaboration. 
Be responsible for personal Continuous Professional Development to enhance performance in job role, competence and potential in line with LAMID’s core professional standards of competence. 
Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the Team Lead
Ensure internal audit and compliance criteria are met, and that all activity conforms to LAMID Consulting systems, policies and procedures at all times. This includes the timely and accurate data entry on client management system for changes and updates to client details.
Proven understanding of commercial business gained through either SME management or ownership, by senior line management in larger companies or having worked in a similar role is essential
Knowledge and understanding of business processes and strategy, market analysis, pricing, including Sales and Marketing, HR Management, Finance, 
Production (where applicable), ICT and Project Management, SME business 
Culture and the motivations and aspirations of the owner-managers/directors. 
Sound understanding of management accounts and their impact on a business. 
Working with mentors and support agencies. 
Extensive knowledge of the range of business support services (both public and private sector) including means of access and the relative quality/suitability of different providers. 
Project management, including setting and working to priorities and time 
Experience of effectively managing client relationships. 
Ability to manage priorities and work with a high caseload. 
Delivery of excellent customer service. 
Supportive of the LAMID vision and lives the values of the organization. 
Understands and adheres to all personal responsibilities under Health and Safety and Safeguarding Procedures.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounts, or Economics, or a comparable discipline. An MBA is a compelling advantage. Age 25 -35yrs with good working knowledge of how businesses operate, entrepreneurially minded. Excellent English and Mathematics with high 6 credits at WAEC/NEC0, MSOFFICE and advantageous to be versatile in the use of a business software.
An excellent business sense is one of the most important skills required for our Business Consultant. More than anything else, as consultant you must be able to tell a company how to make profit, so you must understand the needs of consumers in order to advise companies on how to meet those needs.
Communication skills are vital, because business consultants are expected to create and maintain client relations. Because the companies being advised are often under tight deadlines, the abilities to observe these deadlines and work well under pressure are also useful skills.
Additionally, you must be knowledgeable about current financial trends, which necessitates some continuing education, which will help you stay abreast of new developments.

Strong client and third party management skills, and able to manage a range of mentors to support a broad range of clients. 
Strong project management and client portfolio management skills 
Extensive knowledge of key business processes and business startup essentials 
Experience in analyzing client financial data and key performance ratios 
Well developed analytical skills including the ability to assimilate complex information, identify and prioritize key issues and assist the client to identify practical solutions.
Personal gravitas in the eyes of the client. 
Self-starter and remote team player 
Must be willing on, and available for business travel.
